Brief Background

Mongar Dzong was built in the 1930s to replace the abandoned Zhongar Dzong which was constructed in the 19th century. Its located just above the Mongar town and its houses the Mongar district administration and monastic community too.

Unlike most of the other dzongs which are located in a strategic location, Mongar Dzong is located on a gentle slope, overlooking Mongar town.

Open: Every day from 09:00 to 17:00 hrs .

Lunch Break: 13-14 hrs

Dress Code: Formal dress is required

Entry Fee: No Fees

Photography: Photography is allowed until courtyard.
