Tamshing Lhakhang
Brief Background

It was founded in 1501 and completed in 1505 by Pema Lingpa and it's the place where Pema Lingpa traditions are still followed. The monastic community which came from Lhalung Lhodrak (South Tibet) in 1959 and settled here in Tamshing and still now there are little monks are educated in Pema Lingpa tradition.

The temple was renovated by end of the 19th century the 8th reincarnation of Pema Lingpa Kuzang Tempe Nyima (1843-1891). In this temple, there is a space around the shrine on the ground floor to circumambulate.

 
Inside Tamshing Lhakhang

The main shrine on the ground floor is dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava and 8 manifestations. There are a lot of paintings such as all lineage of Pema Lingpa and other gods and deities. And there is also a metal coat which was made by Pema Lingpa as he was known for metallurgy too.

The ceiling of the upper floor is very low and it is said that it was constructed at the height of Pema Lingpa himself. And the shrine here houses the statue of Amitayus.

Open: Every day from 09:00 to 17:00 hrs .

Lunch Break: 13-14 hrs

Dress Code: Formal dress is required

Entry Fee: No Fees

Photography: Photography is allowed until courtyard.
